  1. A report by the American Academy for the Advancement of Science has
    concluded that much of the currently uncontrolled dioxins to which North
    Americans are exposed comes from the incineration of wastes.
    (A) much of the currently uncontrolled dioxins to which North Americans are

    are exposed to comes
    (D) many of the dioxins that are currently uncontrolled and North Americans are
    exposed to come
    (E) many of the currently uncontrolled dioxins to which North Americans are
    exposed come

Correct ANS: E
请问:
1)dioxins to which North Americans are exposed和dioxins that North Americans are exposed to是否语法上都是正确的,只是前者更简洁?

Correct ANS: C

  • 我没选C是觉得grammatically,it指代不明:it可指代green tea 或brown rice。

Correct ANS: D

  1. A substance derived from the Madagascar periwinkle, which has proved useful in

    decreasing mortality among young leukemia patients, that
    (E) The Madagascar periwinkle, a derivative of which has proved useful in
    decreasing mortality among young leukemia patients,

Correct ANS: E
A, B, C为何错呢?

  • 根据A的意思,该是substance/derivative is cultivated in China as part of a program to…,并且which就近修饰madagascar periwinkle?
  • E的意思是derivative has proved useful in…,所以要cultivate derivative。
  • 另外,除了“A of B + that/who/, which”的结构,限定词that/who/, which是否一定是就近指代前面的名词呢?

  1. According to Henry David Thoreau, the reason a majority is allowed to rule is not
    that it is more likely to be right, but because it is stronger.
    (A) the reason a majority is allowed to rule is not that it is more likely to be right,
    but because it is stronger

    because it is stronger
    © the reason for majority rule is not because they are more likely to be right,
    they are stronger
    (D) the majority is allowed to rule because of its strength, not because it is more
    likely to be right
    (E) the reason why the majority rules is that it is strong, not because it is likely to
    be right

Correct ANS: B

我没选C是觉得grammatically,it指代不明:it可指代green tea 或brown rice。

consider A B (双宾语)是固定用法,consider A as B, consider A to be B都是错的 ->好好复习讲义

depend是动词,depending是分词,只有一件事情(star compresses itself into A,B,or C这件事情)depends on the star’s mass, 而不是star depends on its mass -> 逻辑主语问题,这是一个很明显的错误,因此不选A,B

平行对称结构你应该发现, because of A (借此短语), not because + 从句是不对称的
